Police are probing the death of a one-month-old baby in hospital in northwest Italy on Monday after his Ghanaian relations performed a circumcision on the infant.
Doctors at a hospital in the city of Turin were unable to save the baby who was in cardiac arrest when he arrived in an ambulance shortly after midday and died soon afterwards.
The infants’ parents allegedly gave him an overdose of paracetamol in an attempt to alleviate the pain from the circumcision on Sunday.
Investigators believe the family spent Sunday night at an immigrant squat in a former school in Turin, La Stampa daily reported.
